​

금호미술관은 2021년 6월 18일부터 8월 15일까지 기획전 《도시의 불빛 저편에 Beyond the City Lights》를 개최합니다. 《도시의 불빛 저편에》는 다양한 분야의 시각 예술을 매개로 하여 도시적 삶의 단면을 탐구하고, 인간이 그 안에서 함께 살아가는 여러 요소와 맺는 관계의 형태를 다각도로 살펴보는 전시입니다. 다섯 명의 참여 작가 김혜정, 송주형, 엄아롱, 윤정미, 장용선은 조각, 설치, 영상, 일러스트레이션, 사진 분야를 아우릅니다.

기술의 발전과 자본주의를 토대로 형성된 현대 도시는 인간에게 편리함과 물질적 풍요로움을 제공하지만, 그 이면에는 새로운 형태의 억압과 지배가 존재하고 다양한 사회적, 환경적 문제가 발생하기도 합니다. 전 세계 인구의 절반 이상이 거주하고 대부분의 소비가 일어나는 곳인 만큼 도시의 특성은 전 지구적 현상에 주요한 영향을 끼칩니다. 따라서 도시에 대한 사유는 우리 삶의 현재와 미래를 고찰하는 데 핵심적입니다. 전시 《도시의 불빛 저편에》는 참여 작가의 작업을 통해 현대 도시 환경 속에서 주변화된 존재들에 집중하고 연결과 공생의 의미를 다시금 모색합니다.

Based on the development of technology and capitalism, modern cities afford convenience and material comforts, but on the other side give rise to different forms of oppression and isolation, as well as socio-environmental issues. Examining various relationships that arise from urban phenomena, the artworks encourage visitors to search for what it means to connect and coexist in contemporary society.

Beyond the City Lights looks into the marginalized in urban society. The five artists present works of various genres including sculpture, installation, video, illustration and photography. The exhibition explores our relationship with “minor” presences that we often neglect, yet inevitably live together in cities where human activity is prioritized.
